Greetings!
How are things goin in your day? Hope they are fun. We are ok here-just hot. I have a few things to show you that made my life good if not different. (heehee).
1. Avocado toast with egg:
It takes a few minutes to put together but it's so good. It's just toast, mashed avocado and an over -easy egg.
2. Minimal scraps after squaring (35) 4 square blocks:
That's unusual for me so I was happy I cut and sewed the 4 -squares correctly.
3. Post it quilt top is on the design board. It's made from 10 fat quarters.-cleaning out the stash.
Ready to start sewing the 4 squares together. It's about 46 x 68 inches. It'll be donated to a church group to back and quilt.
4. Amazon service. I love shopping for unusual or no-longer-carried items at Amazon and most items are delivered in 2 days. There happens to be a distribution center 20 miles from my home.
The other day I ordered Bobs Red Mill gluten free flour. This is what I got:
The label says what I ordered but it was a bag of coconut flakes! I laughed. It only took one phone call ( plus emailing the photo) to customer service and my account was credited the same day of the phone call. That is good service. Whoever pulled the product at the warehouse made a mistake. I've never received the wrong product before and have been very pleased with Amazon service.
5. Braylee's 4th birthday.
She was very sweet and had so much fun.
But, my days of going to "Chucky Cheese" are over. My ears were actually ringing when I left and walked to my car 2 hours later. It was very cramped and crowded. The music, game machines and people were so loud. Us old folks ( great and grand parents) sat in a little group waiting for it to end. (While others were running around frantically)
6. Trying new things. I saw the ring binder way of keeping received greeting cards in a special way.
I bought binder rings and punched holes in all the cards. I put it together but it did not turn out well. The cards are flopping around which seems sloppy; plus, how to store that. . I don't like the result and took them off. Back to square one to make something to save these cards prettily, but at least I tried it.
7. Watercolor Portfolio. I needed a place to store my paintings as they were piling up on the one shelf I use to display them:
I used a mauve piece of poster board from Michael's that cost about a dollar, and some stash embroidery thread. Done in a few minutes and I love it.
Well, that's about all for me this week. Hope you will join us at Lee Anna's post:Not Afraid of Color
for more "likes". Hava a great day.

really cool paintings portfolio. The sign of a creative soul. Love avocado, and the breakfast looks so good. The idea of keeping cards that way is cool but maybe with three rings more stable. Chucky Cheese sounds like a nightmare for my ears! Braylee is adorbs as is her cake! It's a bit less hot here... LeeAnna
ReplyDeleteThat avocado toast looks yummy...Braylee is so cute..talk about a "forty carat" smile;)))
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing hugs, Julierose
Lots of nice likes Mary. YOur breakfast is one of my favourites as well. Yes we are amazed by Amazon's service and they are building a super warehouse in Ottawa's east end which will improve things too they say. I always have too many scraps probably because of my poor measuring and cutting. Hopeless at it actually. Meanwhile, what a sweetie that Braylee is! The last time we went to the Lonestar restaurant I felt like you describe. The servers all called out to each other and the music was so loud; Tony couldn't hear a word I said. And we agreed you have to be young to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary! Hmm, I don't know about that avocado/egg breakfast sandwich. I like all the components though, so maybe I'll give it a shot! I like my avocado chunky but that would still work. I'll pick some up this weekend and give it a go. LOVE your post-it quilt top. It really does look like post-it notes, except for the striped one. Nice! Ah yes, Chucky Cheese. I am hoping my days don't start at all. I managed to avoid it with the first round of niece and nephews - I'll set higher standards for the greats (I'm hoping anyway). How adorable is she, Miss 4-year old. Finally, that ring binder for greeting cards is SO cool. I need one of those! ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteMmm - that avocado and egg are making me hungry. I like your idea of keeping cards. How nice to have such square blocks! Your coconut flour makes me chuckle - at least the gluten-free was right.
ReplyDeleteOops on the Amazon order! I'm glad they have good customer service, though. Love your new quilt top - pretty colors! We spent plenty of time at Chucky Cheese when our kids were growing up - have not been back in a long time now. Based on your "recommendation," I'll continue to avoid it, lol!
