Correction to likes post today

Hi

I apologize to everyone for my photos not showing in my post earlier today.  On my end all was good.  Evidently Blogger is playing with my head.  I’ll try to figure out what’s wrong.  If any of you have experienced this problem or figured out how to correct it- PLEASE let me know.

Thank you to everyone.

I like Thursdays May 28

Greetings!

I cannot believe it’s time again.  For someone who never leaves the house I sure seem busy.  I didn’t paint or sew either.  My brother went back to weekend visits with his girl friend this last weekend so I sat and watched prime movies all afternoon and evening Saturday!  Sunday I cleaned all the floors and did laundry. Monday I cooked . And Thomas spent the night  and all day today after 3 months not being  here -so time flies.

We are all good so far with staying home due to the virus.  I don’t see that changing anytime soon for me especially after seeing all those idiots out celebrating over the weekend with total disregard to the virus.  I’ve just settled in to a new lifestyle.  And as long as I get to see Thomas, I’m happy.  Of course, it’s in 110 degrees this week so I can’t go anywhere anyway.  Haha

So here’s my short list of other likes for this week:

1. Blue skies ( no pollution)

This is the view from my front door.  Some days I do like it cause it’s pretty.  I just wish we had grass and real trees.  Heehee. This is a typical street (all the same) In the over 60 community in Peoria. It’s really weird to get used to no people on the street.

2.  Lemon curd and blueberry jam.  So I ordered angel food cake from the grocery store and made lemon curd from  a 15 minute recipe and blueberry jam which is also very easy to make.  What great sauces for the cake! If you want the recipes just let me know.

3. Movies And Miniseries on Prime from Amazon.  Oh my - I had quite a day watching period pieces ( mostly Victorian era) on the channel. They were originally shown years ago but I’d never seen them so it’s all good.

4. My current book

Of course,  I’d read it before but it’s still good the second time around. It’s about a woman transferring her childhood home into a cooking school but it’s more focused on family, friend  relationships and bees.

I haven’t gotten my mojo back to sew; however I did see this in my Connecting Threads brochure which arrived today:

Flowers in bottles just sounds pretty for summer with some light borders to hang as a mini quilt.

I hope you all are having a nice week and join us at LeeAnna’s site for more likes atNot Afraid of Color.

Take care of yourselves.

I like Thursdays May 21

Greetings!!

Where did this week go?  I can’t believe I could have been that busy in this lockdown to lose any time.  Haha.

Is anyone depressed or feeling low?  Well, I do find reading everyone in our little “likes” group   blogs uplifting if not inspiring.  At least I’m not watching the news.

Speaking of the virus- which do you prefer when you are out- paper or fabric masks?  I assume everyone wears a mask out of the house. I don’t wear one on a walk or in the garden but if I go somewhere- I wear the paper (Surgical)  mask and gloves. I can’t breathe with the fabric masks.  I clean the inside of the vehicle and the door handles also when I come home.
I wipe down all the groceries before entering them into the house and clean the doors also.  When I’m done I also wash my hands.  Yes, I’m worried about catching the virus.  And yes, my hands are raw.

Here’s a list of my “likes” this week:

1.  I FOUND THE YEAST!!  Yes, thank you to Sprouts Market stores here.  And, at the regular cost.  Of course, now that I found it I haven’t found time to make anything.

2.  Homemade baking powder.  I follow Food Network on Facebook and found this recipe to make baking powder and thought you might like it if you run out or  if you can’t find it.

3.  The Voice winner Todd Tilghman.  I was so happy to pick this winner from the beginning. He has a great voice, passion and infectious energy.  He’s a pastor and father of 8!!  I hope you get to listen to his music.  He reminds me of music from The Eagles or that genre.

4. My  Link’s Lake painting.  It’s a favorite lake near Prescott Az. It took 2 days to finish because it’s the first landscape painting I’ve done.

I’m so happy with it, I framed it in a mat and used washi tape to attach to the wall.  The tape doesn’t stay so I’m constantly tapping it down.  But, I like the effect better than a heavy frame.  I used paper that my daughter gave me for Christmas which is for “multi-media painting”.  Next time,  I will go back to my watercolor paper where the paint adheres better.  I forgot- kudos to Matthew Palmer on You Tube for the landscape tutorial.

So, that’s a glimpse into my life this past week.  I did make One Pot Olive Garden Zuppa Toscana soup and it was ok.  It’s a potato sausage soup. Not my favorite. But, my brother loved it.
I also still watch Dr John Carpenter on the coronavirus updates and Kate at The Last Lonely House on You Tube each day.

I went to the grocery store for the first time in 10 weeks,  got gas and got a haircut today.  It felt good to get out-but scary.

I hope you are all healthy and happy! Thanks for stopping by and love to hear your comments and how life is for you in this surreal time.

I like Thursdays May 14

Greetings!

I feel like I’m in the movie “Ground Hog Day”.  Same thing, over and over. Oh well-I should not complain cause we are ok here.  I got to see my daughter’s family for Mother’s Day for a few minutes while we were all using safety precautions.  That made me and them feel better.  Thomas is better after a second series of drugs for the bronchitis.  That’s never happened before.

I’m trying new recipes as long as it doesn’t involve turning on the oven due to the excessive heat.  I’ll share some with you if they’re good ones.  Haha

Here’s a list of my “likes”this week:

1.  Three new plants to “clean the air”.  Anthurium Sweet Dreams pink, Eternity plant and a snake plant.

2.  Mothers Day gift plant of succulents from my daughter

The pot is the cutest with a quilting mode and it matches the shower curtain!  Oh, and she made me a spice cake, too.

3.  Home made crumpets.  I was able to get yeast from my daughter and bought a crumpet tool.  The crumpets were heavy but ok.
5sqye

  if I can find yeast somewhere, I  have another recipe which comes from Curtis Stone that I will use  to make them again. Don't want to waste purchasing the tool. Just sayin. If it works, I’ll post that recipe.;

4.  My new favorite painting: “ FALLING LEAVES”

It  was such fun and very relaxing. Thanks again to CEECEE CREATIONS for the tutorial.

Well, that’s a glimpse into my life this past week. I hope you are healthy and happy.

Take care!

I like Thursdays May 7

Greetings! We’re still hanging in there.  Yes, it’s boring but AMAZON should be grateful I’m keeping them in business and the grocery store too.  Yes, I miss my pumpkin. ugh.

This week was a weird one- lots of reading and watching movies.  Not a lot of cooking due to the heat- 107 today.  Here’s a list of my likes for this week:

1. Thomas feeling better.  His chest X-ray came back clear but he still has the cough.  Dr says bronchitis can last 3 weeks.  It’s been 2. Ginger has started helping  with his inflammation of his bronchial tubes, and more new meds, too.

2.  Cucumber Crack.  Love the name.  I peeled a cucumber, shredded it and
put it in a dish towel to squeeze the moisture out.  Then I mixed the cukes with 4 oz softened cream cheese, dash of garlic and about a tablespoon of tarragon. (Basil or parsley could be substituted).

Refrigerate for an hour.

It is good on a slice of bread but really good on a slice of raw zucchini or any crudités.  I made up 4 sandwiches then cut them in fourths to use as snacks in the afternoon for a few days. Very easy, cool and great to have on hand instead of junk food.

3. My new can opener.  It’s the little things.

It’s a Kitchen Mama battery operated one.  It’s such fun.  You place It  on top of the can close to the edge, press the big button and it scoots around on its own.  Hysterical and a clean , safe cut.  I got it on Amazon.

4.  My birthday with my son.  We had a wonderful takeout Chinese lunch together (6 feet apart).  We talked for hours and had a great time.  He stayed and helped me set up my Amazon Prime free movies on the tv.   I was so excited.  We now watch them every night.

5. The movie, “I See You” with Helen Hunt and Jim Tunney.  A suspense thriller about a detective and his family during an investigation of a missing boy.  There are many twists and turns to keep your attention.

6.  MY NEW RUG!

I have been waiting for weeks for it to arrive. It’s exactly as advertised.  That’s my brother on the sofa. It’s not as orange as this looks in the photo- it’s more multicolored. Thank you Amazon.

7. My “Cotton Tree” painting for my daughter for Mother’s Day.

Delicate and sweet.  It’s a preframed canvas which was scary to paint on but love the result.  Thanks to CEECEE  CREATIONS  for inspiration of The Cotton Tree.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you mothers and best wishes for good health to everyone.  Please join us at LeeAnna’s blog for more “ likes”: Not Afraid of Color

Have a wonderful day.
