Things I like Thursdays Jan 31

Greetings!

Wow Jan 31?  Time flies but I’m only having fun some of the time.  Haha.  Here’s a list of this week’s likes:

1. Nice weather. We are around 70 degrees during the day and mid 40’s at night.  You can see our beautiful blue skies this weekend by watching THE PHOENIX OPEN on the Golf channel Thursday-Sunday and on CBS on Sunday. There will be about a million people there this weekend.  My son and his wife will go Sunday.  It’s quite an “in” thing.  The best part is the sponsor-Waste Management who have made almost 100% of their goal to keep everything recyclable every year.  It’s a very clean course in Scottsdale.

2. Cottontails in my backyard.

They were only about 10 feet from me!  So cute.

Unfortunately, in the same week, I had a rangy coyote about 10 feet from me when I was watering my front yard plants.  At the same time a state Game and Fish agent came around the corner to warn us not to leave small dogs outside. I asked her if she was going to pick up the coyote and she said “No, he’s a wild animal and lives here”.  I was speechless.  I live in a very old subdivision of residences -probably 200 of them.

3.  My new desk set up for my IPad.
I was pretty proud of myself for setting up a Bluetooth, tablet stand, keyboard and mouse. As you can now tell, I’m still figuring out stuff. Heehee

3. Birthday party for my great grand daughter Kynslee. She just turned 2.

She is such a delicate little girl-very sweet.

Here’s a photo of my grandson and the two great granddaughters playing together (kinda).

Sorry if it’s a little blurry- I was carrying my oxygen on my shoulder and trying to take  a photo at the same time.

Hope you are all enjoying your week.  Please join us at Lee Anna’s site for more “likes” at Not Afraid of Color

Stay safe.

Things I like Thursdays Jan 23

Greetings!
So, I’ve been trying to switch from my PC to my IPad for all computer work.  Oh dear- what a project.  Of course, I’ve been a Windows user for many years and have never used a Mac so it’s a tortuous endeavor.  I should purchase a “Dummies for IPad users” book, but I’m a glutton for punishment I guess.  I received 2 IPads last year for free  and want to learn how to use the IPad because my PC uses Windows 7 which is no longer supported by Microsoft.  Plus, the news has reported that this means hackers will be able to hack our computers more easily.  Regardless, I’m in no position to purchase Windows 10 or a new PC to handle that upgrade.  Better to learn to use what I have- no?

Here’s a list of my  “likes” for this week.  Please join us for more “likes” at Lee Anna’s site: Not afraid of color.

1. GOOGLE  for questions.  I have been jumping from Google back and forth to my IPad to learn how to use PHOTOS , ISpreadsheet, etc.  I could not have gotten this far without using Google. I’ve spent 2-3 hours a day

2.  Sanditon  on PBS.  A one season ( eight part) period piece about a spirited young lady who goes to the town of Sanditon.  I love period pieces or almost anything on PBS.  Of course,  anything is better than watching the  Impeachment hearings.

3.  Sunday lunch at The YardHouse in Glendale with family.  There were 9 of us having lunch outside on the deck in 70 degrees,  crazy crazy weather.

4. Christmas gifts from my family:

?
I love John Legend!

A massage certificate!  Yes,,

A lighted Christmas globe -so delicate and pretty
I received other delicious and pretty gifts but forgot to take photos.
Well peeps- this took several hours to figure out how to post so I’ll call it a win.
Have a wonderful day!

Things I like Thursdays Jan 16

Greetings!

Happy January.  I think.  Putting away the Christmas stuff was not fun but my living room feels clean and tidy.  Luckily, it's the only room I really decorate beside the dining table so it only took A DAY to put stuff away and clean the house.

I'm still on oxygen so the cord gets in the way but we are adjusting.

I have a few things for our weekly "like" post with Lee Anna: Not Afraid of Color.  Please join us.

1.  Christmas gift from a friend

Isn't this sweet? Lee Anna sent this along with some fancy cocoa I haven't tried yet.  The tiny stitches on the mug rug are just so pretty.  I don't have the patience or finger dexterity to hand sew any longer so I can really appreciate all the lovely work that went into this piece.  I treasure it.

2. Christmas gifts from family.  As I mentioned previously, our family missed Christmas this year due to all being sick-one at a time-and it was catching.  So, Tina's family and I opened one present each after New Year's , when we were no longer contagious. This coming Sunday we are all meeting at a restaurant to exchange the rest of our gifts. AND, celebrate my daughter and daughter in law's birthdays.
Here's a gift I received from Tina already:

Painting supplies!!!  What a great idea.  Canvases, watercolors, a large tablet. I'm so happy. Art supplies are expensive so this was smart.

3. My January painting.

I finally sat down and did some painting.  I haven't sewn or painted in almost 2 months!
Shayda Campbell has a wonderful tutorial on flowers at You Tube.  It was harder to paint these than I realized. My perfectionist tendencies seem to take over when making the large roses so I need to relax more or add some more color shading. I still enjoy the process.

I hope you are all enjoying the new year and keeping warm!  It's been cold here in the mornings (37) but warms up in the afternoon (high 60's). Many clothes changes during the day.  Haha

Take care-

Things I like Thursdays Jan 9

Greetings!

So, after being sick for over a month, 2 hospital stays and  3 urgent care visits,   I am liking being able to breathe, think clearly and drive my vehicle! What a nightmare December was. But, I'm on the mend, thankfully.

I am also liking:

1. The Hallmark movies that carried me through living on the sofa FOR A MONTH.

2. The tv show, "Making It".  A craft show to the max!  It was only about a 6 week run .  The hosts were so funny and I was blown away by the imagination and artistry of the contestants.

3. The tv show, The Moodys" hysterical but true to life of family drama.  I have always been a fan of Dennis Leary but this is even more enjoyable and relateable.

4.  My Grinches at the Christmas parade in downtown Glendale:

Thomas and mom facing the sun(oh dear).

5. Thomas enjoying one of his Christmas presents- Slam-basketball magazine.

I got him the subscription thinking he would like all the photos of his favorite players but he wanted to read (by himself) all the captions and stories.  SO, SO COOL. So much for the school's "third grade reading level" .  This is an adult basketball magazine.  Just sayin.  We had our small Christmas exchange last night with only one present and will do it again later in January when we can all be together.

6.My amarylis from my daughter:

The blooms are each  6 inches across!  Gorgeous.

Well peeps, that's about all for now. Happy New Year and please join us at Lee Anna's site for more likes:Not Afraid of Color
