THINGS I LIKE JUN 8

Greetings!

Hope everyone is keeping cool.We will be 109 today so our fun days are here.(hee hee) I usually hibernate and sew in the summer because I can't handle the heat but it seems I have lots of errands this week, so I'll be careful.  Thanks to Lee Anna at Not Afraid of Color for encouraging our "likes" posts. Here are my Likes  for this week:

1. Strangers  coming to the aid of Londoners and Manchester residents this last week in the midst of their attacks. It is heart warming to see the good in people especially in traumatic times.  Also, I watched the Ariana Grande benefit concert and was touched by the artists and audience members' response to these attacks.

2. My new Fabric Back splash. So, here's the deal. I don't like the paint used over the sink back splash so I decided to make a table runner and hang it there!

Isn't it cute? It blends well  with my dark cupboards. And, if it gets dirty, just place it in the wash!

3.  How my mind wanders when I see quilt patterns in everyday designs.

While waiting in my car line for the ATM, I noticed the wall design on my bank. Pretty fancy.

And this is my napkin while eating lunch. Check out the fancy borders.  Someone went to a lot of trouble to make these pretty. And, I bought them at Walmart. Score.

4. Passion tea with orange juice.  I made some decaf passion tea but wanted it cold.  I added ice cubes and about a third match of orange juice. I was pleasantly surprised. Hope you try it.

Enjoy your day and don't forget to read the likes posts at Lee Anna's site.  Thanks for joining mine.

    1. thank you. I don't know why but it sounded good at the time- i think it was the coffee pots that made me think of that space.

  2. the quilt as backsplash is brilliant! I just love that! I also quite like that napkin for a quilting pattern. The curve, then straight line echos to the side, would look just fab on a quilt. Thanks Mary, for seeing the good in life during these appalling moments in Washington. LeeAnna

  3. I love the quilt for a backsplash, too! Such a great idea, and the coffee designs on it are perfect. I have a similar space above my sink that is just blank white wall that needs something - oh boy, a new project to get ideas for! :)

  4. I see quilt patterns in everyday things, too. In the Sistine Chapel, while everyone else was looking at the frescos on the ceilings, I was seeing quilt patterns in the tile floors!

  5. Your new backsplash is perfect. I see quilt designs or embroidery possibilities everywhere too. There are gorgeous designs even on tissue boxes these days. I am just learning about different teas. Have a new to me one...raspberry and pomegranate. Nice.

    1. Thanks! When I go to Sprouts or Safeway, I am blown away by how many teas there are! I stay away from the Teavana store in the mall cause I would spend a fortune there!

  6. We quilters are so resourceful. The backsplash solution is ingenious. I have to pay better attention to my napkins now - things that we see but do not notice.

  7. Love the backsplash idea!! We are to hit the 90s soon here in Southwestern PA after a lovely round of cool weather and I just dread it. 109 is insane, but it reminds of a summer with temps like that when my boys were young and they played summer soccer. I thought I'd die on the field :) I soaked their shirts in cold water before we went but they dried by the time the games began...
