Greetings!
Hope everyone had a good week. Ours was a busy one with graduation, birthdays and life. Here's a list of things I like and am grateful for:
1. Okabashi sandals. They are made of rubber I think. I found them at the local Safeway. They have arch support and hug my foot so they aren't really a "flip-flop".
I wore them many years ago and had forgotten how good they feel around the house!
2. My new Bicycle Quilt. I saw this Bicycle panel at the local quilt shop and just had to have it. Then the owner showed me what she did with it per a pattern by adding leaf blocks and fussy cutting the panel into strips for a border.
Well, her quilt was too big, but I used that idea and made a smaller one. The fabric and panel is from "Autumn Road" by Wilmington Prints. I had to have it on my wall for summer, so I dropped everything (I think they have a diagnosis for that) and finished it. It's 40 x 55. It was difficult to make but so worth it.
3. My bicycle tea towel. I wasn't looking for one but accidentally saw it at the Safeway also! Score.
It hangs a few feet from the quilt. I just think this new theme in my kitchen is cheery. I don't own a bike but would like one while I can still ride one so maybe I'll find one around here.
4. "Genius" on PBS with the series on Picasso. I can't believe Antonio Banderas is the actor portraying the great artist. What a great acting job by Antonio. Picasso was so extravagant in his life. I can't say I understand his paintings but appreciate his passion.
Well, have to run to the grandson's house. I appreciate all who visit and so enjoy your comments! I learn something every week by our sharing. Please join us at Lee Anna's post for more "likes " at Not Afraid of Color.
Enjoy!

Hi Mary! Those sandals look really comfy and the arch support is a welcome change from true flip-flops. Your bicycle quilt is fabulous! I never would have believed it was from a panel - I will have to watch for it in my local quilt shop. And your new tea towel is fun and a perfect choice to brighten up your kitchen. Very festive and happy looking! ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteThanks Roseanne- Sometimes a stop and make is called for. hee hee.
DeleteI want to run to Safeway right now and look for sandals! :) Love the bikes. Fun little quilt.
ReplyDeleteThanks- hope you find the sandals!
Deletewhat great likes! I have to look for the PBS show, I got an appreciation for Picasso doing my little STAT quilt based on his style. Him as a man??? well....he owned a poodle.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I knew his paintings were interesting but I had no idea his personal life was so "loving". hee hee
DeleteI love the bicycle quilt and panel! What a fun fabric! I was listening to a podcast the other day about a man in the early twentieth century who tried to ride a bicycle around the world. He disappeared (sort of like Amelia Earhart) but it was a really cool story to hear about.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I never heard that story of the bicyclist!
DeleteI love your bicycle quilt! I bought some fat quarters of that same line and made a fall quilt for a friend, and a table topper for me. It is such pretty fabric! Thanks for letting us know about the Genius show, too. I'll look in our TV guide for it.
ReplyDeleteLove the bicycle tea towel and quilt. I just added some bicycle artwork to our master bedroom. It feels like summer!
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura. I never knew how much I like bicycles till I saw that panel. I guess it just reminds me of when we were younger and summers were care free. Or maybe we just moved more.
DeleteBicycles seem to be a theme now. Yesterday in the loft of my barn I found 3 that my husband had brought home and stored. The old fashioned cruiser type. What a great quilt.
ReplyDeleteThat's the bike I was thinking of getting!. I can't ride a 10 speed- too many things to think about and pedal at the same time. I just want to take my time and pedal around.
Deletehow do I follow your blog?
ReplyDeleteHi there, I have a little thing for leaves as fall is my favourite season and that fabric is adorable. Were those leaves hard to put together?
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of those sandals...must google the name.
PBS really offer some great shows, don' t they? I don't have cable but I wonder if I can run down that show.
I really wish the email feature would get fixed. If you want instructions for the "leaf block", send me an email directly . They aren't hard just time consuming.(at least for me). I made a mistake- "Genius" is on National Geographic! That's what I get for rushing my post when I'm so busy these days. Sorry. Sometimes, you can watch these shows on your computer. At least I can with PBS. Enjoy! mary
DeleteNeat stuff. I really like that quilt!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sally. It was time consuming but so worth it!
DeleteI love your Bicyle edition :) Really cool!!! Will check out genius! Have a great day Mary!
ReplyDeleteMary - love the bicycle theme! Several years ago the siblings threw money into a pot to buy my Mom a tricycle with a basket - she loves riding it around her neighborhood, especially because it's red!
ReplyDeleteLike everyone else, I am no longer getting email notifications from Blogger, but I don't think they plan to change it back. I have found checking my comments every day from the dashboard in Blogger is just as effective … another idea for you ...
