Check this out:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzACQ8oiE_nNgfRW8_MyukTegRNTVGbnz7qj0z6z49lnKY3aUpmg8sypcHKFxcpJUGUzWozKureT8QiFoH9l8CjN6f-PRGzzvNX7LKcbYkvyFMhQWiCbXf1ofh-XC_zTU5UVARbQFRzEN6/s604/39D407BF-FE46-450F-AE5D-40BBE8D090B5.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="604" data-original-width="453" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzACQ8oiE_nNgfRW8_MyukTegRNTVGbnz7qj0z6z49lnKY3aUpmg8sypcHKFxcpJUGUzWozKureT8QiFoH9l8CjN6f-PRGzzvNX7LKcbYkvyFMhQWiCbXf1ofh-XC_zTU5UVARbQFRzEN6/s320/39D407BF-FE46-450F-AE5D-40BBE8D090B5.jpeg" /></a></div><br /><p>60 seconds and just like regular pasta. $1.49 a pouch. For me it was 2 servings. No sauce so I just made cream of mushroom sauce. Great in a pinch. I told my daughter so she could take it to work. I bought it at my Safeway.</p><p>2. My new pajamas. I wanted something nice and comfortable for when I have surgery later in the month. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ_ejX3Auh6vFGBepXBfZgaUhI-6CV8bbCYwa4E7UuKebldW534pT_8iIjBk8m_LkEhqPZ0BL79AvKp3EtD8hBQco76Za_rB1EePRBszEHKrRez4P7yCQ4St5XAMmV7Fs-lX6i1AL7vz-i/s640/1881423E-FC7D-49EF-ADF7-A46689BCDA0B.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ_ejX3Auh6vFGBepXBfZgaUhI-6CV8bbCYwa4E7UuKebldW534pT_8iIjBk8m_LkEhqPZ0BL79AvKp3EtD8hBQco76Za_rB1EePRBszEHKrRez4P7yCQ4St5XAMmV7Fs-lX6i1AL7vz-i/s320/1881423E-FC7D-49EF-ADF7-A46689BCDA0B.jpeg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEQYq-u_zIW44MzfW-uLfwgfRKMKKzcREpqvMw66kiNAt_cJ7SomUYLKWxGJSZmuR1tmdr-n5ZFhuiGBvy3JHRXhowVEPnV_jSujZNAxURolBN4E9aJyHgKEdtbgECodmxo7Kx4q7wbZtT/s640/FB380B64-6340-4378-96E6-645EF704A4D3.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="481" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEQYq-u_zIW44MzfW-uLfwgfRKMKKzcREpqvMw66kiNAt_cJ7SomUYLKWxGJSZmuR1tmdr-n5ZFhuiGBvy3JHRXhowVEPnV_jSujZNAxURolBN4E9aJyHgKEdtbgECodmxo7Kx4q7wbZtT/s320/FB380B64-6340-4378-96E6-645EF704A4D3.jpeg" /></a></div><br /><p>I splurged and purchased PajamaGram via Amazon. High quality navy blue cotton knit and they fit!!! At least before washing. I usually wear Xlarge but I knew they would be too long so getting the Xlarge petite was a good idea. It beats wearing an old soft tshirt and non matching bottoms for pajamas. </p><p> I love the piping-even on the leg bottoms and recommend them even for costing $50!</p><p><br /></p><p> 3. “Escape to the Chateau” on Peacock. Thanks to LeeAnna for sharing this with us. I binge -watched 2 seasons and was so impressed with the husband’s engineering genius and the wife’s eclectic designing ideas. They bought a run down, almost 200 years old Chateau in France and are repairing it while raising 2 toddlers. </p><p>4. The birth of my great grandson Bentlee on the 6th. Mom and baby are doing well.</p><p>Please join us at Lee Anna’s site, Not Afraid of Color, for many more likes from our group. </p><p>Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day.</p><p>Mary</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Mary in Peoria Handmadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08871811216546092480noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4188661763019487924.post-35462282617512408322020-10-01T08:31:00.000-07:002020-10-01T08:31:45.861-07:00Things I like Thursdays Oct 1<p> Greetings!</p><p>We are still at 100 degrees days here but less smoke. But, the 2 new fires in CA will probably blow this way tomorrow. So, I still haven’t gone for a walk. We need to wear masks regardless of Covid. I spent the weekend mostly with my daughter and that I like. Saturday we did our annual Christmas craft together and Sunday I went to her house to play with her and Thomas and lots of eating.</p><p>Here’s a list of my likes for this week:</p><p>1. Christmas hanging decos that we made. We purchased the frames at the Dollar Store and added ornaments and ribbons. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEZWuxWE3ztupGP5s3kd6kgLs1ra5r_bmgLQR6WqF56JUYppuQWDWSiggvzfPlsmiEW_5UPTpD8ktx_SliSIsyoj-CwUn_cYZ6URKrOPosHEPVQzjpGDiJFg03byWzbNq-wFlYNc6j60Yx/s640/6EFA9087-48DF-4F50-A4BB-A38A54CB9D4C.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEZWuxWE3ztupGP5s3kd6kgLs1ra5r_bmgLQR6WqF56JUYppuQWDWSiggvzfPlsmiEW_5UPTpD8ktx_SliSIsyoj-CwUn_cYZ6URKrOPosHEPVQzjpGDiJFg03byWzbNq-wFlYNc6j60Yx/w325-h400/6EFA9087-48DF-4F50-A4BB-A38A54CB9D4C.jpeg" width="325" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqJO_O_-P4oRE7LRH4LKzFoB_nzhwBeGvRkZ626l0iAzwLwSBdyV78aBocPlKkPix-O-PNlQ9twcBiFkKYhQBLqHd2ufgc-Q6DYgPh9shgvgMOBdclK3So0F5yjtGW5GqPiJ9TRSDgJrkQ/s640/52E6AE9A-B806-440B-BF40-56F342727E11.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="594" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqJO_O_-P4oRE7LRH4LKzFoB_nzhwBeGvRkZ626l0iAzwLwSBdyV78aBocPlKkPix-O-PNlQ9twcBiFkKYhQBLqHd2ufgc-Q6DYgPh9shgvgMOBdclK3So0F5yjtGW5GqPiJ9TRSDgJrkQ/w371-h400/52E6AE9A-B806-440B-BF40-56F342727E11.jpeg" width="371" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmrbI66aDZRdw4qN58erCRkHK0zbZWUeHX_2B76qa5aUlclo0_qbyaZQ7qVJTdANA-r-HeoSHPAVD5iIVgQAPY1_Z0pkYyjU8N9QSpan9KxmrDUKQITIWpWyoehahXXQw8r0TzBrJ78TNG/s640/D17098C9-7D03-4473-8621-FDF558209D90.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmrbI66aDZRdw4qN58erCRkHK0zbZWUeHX_2B76qa5aUlclo0_qbyaZQ7qVJTdANA-r-HeoSHPAVD5iIVgQAPY1_Z0pkYyjU8N9QSpan9KxmrDUKQITIWpWyoehahXXQw8r0TzBrJ78TNG/w300-h400/D17098C9-7D03-4473-8621-FDF558209D90.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Ignore the nails and hooks. LeeAnna’s post on <b>Choices </b> on Tuesday. Plus, her post on Monday about a list of things I want to do instead of what needs to be done. On the Choices post, I had to come to grips with how rote my life is so I think I would like to make a more concerted effort to “change” things up. Thanks Lee Anna.</p><p>2. Not feeling guilty about “dropping” a book. Some history: we did not have books in our house growing up. So when I entered the library at school or the public library in our city, I was like a kid in the candy store. I couldn’t believe I could borrow a book. I checked out as many books that were allowed every week. Even as an adult, when I first entered Barnes and Noble I stayed for hours and had difficulty keeping to a budget. I’m still in awe of authors.</p><p>This past week , I started reading 2 different books and just did not enjoy them. I returned them to the library. I used to feel guilty returning an unread book. Now, it’s ok. Not everyone thinks or reads as I do, so that’s acceptable. Sometimes, I search for a book recommended by a famous person or book clubs, maybe recommended by a librarian or even a friend. Other times, the title or cover of a book intrigues me. </p><p>If I really enjoy a book, I’ll stay up reading into the wee hours because I can’t put it down. I usually read at bedtime because it’s the only “quiet “ time. My brother has the tv on ALL DAY LONG and I need quiet to read, which means I wait till bedtime. </p><p>3. My current read:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzF-_A60zknZMVc-Egm7jUmSiXHOg9AvZj7Xw8WrRD-yz182GcphY7qj2ac1owe5K205drr2CLBIeczxz4SEJG8pjWXRsUf44ENV-BzUlBpkp552GUpRgrDa_2EEMeuxRQ-Upa0i-AZxUD/s427/ED73E6BB-B6B0-429F-85AF-148B71761291.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="427" data-original-width="361" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzF-_A60zknZMVc-Egm7jUmSiXHOg9AvZj7Xw8WrRD-yz182GcphY7qj2ac1owe5K205drr2CLBIeczxz4SEJG8pjWXRsUf44ENV-BzUlBpkp552GUpRgrDa_2EEMeuxRQ-Upa0i-AZxUD/s0/ED73E6BB-B6B0-429F-85AF-148B71761291.jpeg" /></a></div><br /><p>I’m enjoying this mystery of 3 senior men returning to the beach of their youth.</p><p>4. I don’t own many shirts with words on them, but I just couldn’t resist purchasing this one on Amazon.</p><p>5. The start of a table topper for my daughter:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiPb5eF1Jil644inxEhaRt-Iy0Pa0OmX8gHZFQ5ON64MRacV6SNMD9W4lmUeFL74a8hpfqT63niBKty9UVF-FjcKDPMH8mNpfYjs0Ipv5ihp8TWasJZ_Efhjm5fnJRy38a5PujLoSlnW_B/s536/8408A6CD-0125-45BF-BCC8-41D65E7DD763.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="536" data-original-width="468" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiPb5eF1Jil644inxEhaRt-Iy0Pa0OmX8gHZFQ5ON64MRacV6SNMD9W4lmUeFL74a8hpfqT63niBKty9UVF-FjcKDPMH8mNpfYjs0Ipv5ihp8TWasJZ_Efhjm5fnJRy38a5PujLoSlnW_B/s0/8408A6CD-0125-45BF-BCC8-41D65E7DD763.jpeg" /></a></div><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;">It’s for a 5 foot long dresser. Tina does not like a lot of color and prefers quiet designs so it’s a challenge to come up with patterns and colors that blend in with the quilt and headboard I already made for her. Especially, since I downgraded my stash to a minimal amount. Challenging but fun. Only 3 more toppers to go for other pieces of furniture in the room.</span></div><p>6. “Tennison” on Amazon Prime. A 1970’s era British police woman in her rookie year- series. (I keep watching stories about women and the glass ceiling, regardless of the time period. What is that all about? Hmm.). Anyway, the lead character is feminine but strong in a quiet way. And, the background music is GREAT. Petula Clark, The Doors, Stones, Beatles.....And, everyone smokes. Wow. I started smoking when I was 25 (1973) thinking it was sophisticated too. Oh well.</p><p>7. “Music From Another Room”. A movie starring Jude Law ( a very young one). A 5 year old boy accidentally helps the delivery of a baby at home but leaves for Europe with his military dad the next day. 25 years later he returns and accidentally runs into the same family. Of course, he wants to marry the same girl he met at birth. Quirky characters, fun years, heartbreaking and fulfilling story at the same time. I think this movie was made in the 90’s. This is still on Amazon Prime.</p><p><br /></p><p>8. “The Paradise” on Prime. A series following a young Victorian woman going to work in a department store named The Paradise. If for no other reason than the costumes, I love this stuff. Fluff, but intrigue as well.</p><p>Thankfully, there were more “likes” this week but I probably won’t remember them until I hit “publish”.</p><p>LOL</p><p>Have a great day, stay safe, and join us at Lee Anna’s blog, Not Afraid of Color for more fun.</p><p>Mary</p><p><br /></p>Mary in Peoria Handmadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08871811216546092480noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4188661763019487924.post-47698087977791663602020-08-26T22:17:00.000-07:002020-08-26T22:17:10.523-07:00Things I Like Thursdays Aug 27<div class="separator"><br /></div><p> Greetings!</p><p></p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>This is supposed to be a post about things I like, but I need to share with you this little thing first:<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgr2fgsU7kgJDoogjXEQQn6IPb_ikyOGEQ-__Y4UJiHArJFcF2gwMpsQWN3O3Ll9aNWx7U3CknKevZ1-S_ZIKASdyjyHzhODdCWw40_ak9Oa0BKa9P4wwbr70mTUUbKdFnV5eOiCxvO_xOy/s640/4008360C-53F3-40EC-96B9-C1F85227B858.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="359" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgr2fgsU7kgJDoogjXEQQn6IPb_ikyOGEQ-__Y4UJiHArJFcF2gwMpsQWN3O3Ll9aNWx7U3CknKevZ1-S_ZIKASdyjyHzhODdCWw40_ak9Oa0BKa9P4wwbr70mTUUbKdFnV5eOiCxvO_xOy/s0/4008360C-53F3-40EC-96B9-C1F85227B858.png" /></a></li></ul><p></p><br /><p>We don’t have enough smoke from our own fires or California, so a high pressure system is pulling smoke from the Colorado and New Mexico fires into Az. So, with no measurable rain in months, and 115 degree temps we have really dirty skies for almost a month now. If we didn’t have Covid, I still can’t go outside. This is crazy stuff. I pray for the thousands of people affected by these fires! I can’t imagine losing your home and loved ones in this devastating manner. </p><p>As well, I am praying for everyone in the path of Hurricane Laura. As I write this it is listed as a very dangerous category 4 to land between Texas and Louisiana. I was living in Houston in 1983 when Hurricane Alicia arrived and it was pretty scary. </p><p>Back to our original purpose of focusing on “likes” with Lee Anna at “ Not Afraid of Color” which keeps us sane!</p><p>1. Amazon Prime. ( Ok- Amazon period. I’m still keeping Amazon in business since I can’t go shopping outdoors).</p><p> Since there’s nothing to watch on cable tv, I’ve taken to finding good movies or series on Prime that are free. Recently, I enjoyed “Radioactive” starring Rosamund Pike. This is the story of Marie Curie who won 2 Nobel prizes in Chemistry in a man’s world while raising 2 daughters. Excellent. </p><p>Note- her daughter received a Nobel prize also many years later. Just sayin.</p><p>We also watched a series called “White Dragon”, a story of a British man who receives a call that his wife has died while working in Hong Kong. He travels to Hong Kong but makes a shocking discovery of her secret life while there. It was an 8 episode series which we binge watched.</p><p>2. This was so good , I read it in 2 nights! This is a fictional account of Einstein’s first wife, Mileva. Not here-we are past 40 days this summer of 110 degrees and many over 115. The mailbox is so hot the junk mail is hot and sticky. Unbelievable. Thank God for air conditioning.</p><p>But, I do have some “likes” for this week:</p><p><br /></p><p>1. The DNC convention. It’s so nice to watch intelligent speakers and professionals give me hope in the future. I prefer the roll call from each individual state rather than the old chaotic convention center.</p><p>2. My new air fryer. My son showed up one day with this gift:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuAUx5eE4pYGIDLmfHwxnwEwMvSROwzhVaLNyPB4po0MoDbMlwEgDH1lWlgzJBC2r8_ImKKZVdg67AszH2w6cug8bd3txVWC0tO1lzboD9BFAja5R7Barkg7syW-GfSsWHpibLjRGiYRFL/s640/069E9943-F338-482A-A74C-B4FDB4A233E2.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuAUx5eE4pYGIDLmfHwxnwEwMvSROwzhVaLNyPB4po0MoDbMlwEgDH1lWlgzJBC2r8_ImKKZVdg67AszH2w6cug8bd3txVWC0tO1lzboD9BFAja5R7Barkg7syW-GfSsWHpibLjRGiYRFL/s0/069E9943-F338-482A-A74C-B4FDB4A233E2.jpeg" /></a></div><p><br /></p><p>It’s pretty easy to use but takes up half of the counter and weighs a lot. I tried zucchini but need to keep tweaking the time and temp to get it to come out the way I like them.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhs_0nvg8S8luez84yKxSp6WMsKdGFzoAoKOMr_ln9SbK_2c_YrqK6OGvpcfPWXrP1Rl31hyphenhyphenNJ8KvN3wKhMrsZrMDT5rRh8kAs4uJDvV3yAHz_TU2uidotIjOZdcccFYqV5prvogMP_ae5M/s640/1B04DD63-F222-46B5-B637-7A4ED0E36239.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhs_0nvg8S8luez84yKxSp6WMsKdGFzoAoKOMr_ln9SbK_2c_YrqK6OGvpcfPWXrP1Rl31hyphenhyphenNJ8KvN3wKhMrsZrMDT5rRh8kAs4uJDvV3yAHz_TU2uidotIjOZdcccFYqV5prvogMP_ae5M/s0/1B04DD63-F222-46B5-B637-7A4ED0E36239.jpeg" /></a></div><p>Then I tried frozen onion rings:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjXZtyqinS4tWbnqb8N8dGmtW_2Q86birmbOtkttYIaIxLBeXHbTl9jJuvEZTWFhdzB3AJ3lBNTiw5UjsylbAXT37o3ERJOmlwK_uf65cS7yZIWZfSRcJtJ_Ligip1QI4ZLYT2cXxTTNdj/s640/CF456C9C-DB20-4F26-A724-D0D55D543116.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjXZtyqinS4tWbnqb8N8dGmtW_2Q86birmbOtkttYIaIxLBeXHbTl9jJuvEZTWFhdzB3AJ3lBNTiw5UjsylbAXT37o3ERJOmlwK_uf65cS7yZIWZfSRcJtJ_Ligip1QI4ZLYT2cXxTTNdj/s0/CF456C9C-DB20-4F26-A724-D0D55D543116.jpeg" /></a></div><p>I followed the instructions but used half the recommended time and they still came out burnt! So, I guess I need to keep trying. My son has been using his fryer with great results and wanted me to have a good experience as well. He even cooked beautiful Cornish hens in 20 minutes!</p><p>3. My new Visco soft mattress topper. My orthopedic mattress is only 5 years old and was a disappointment from the second week. It’s already caved in the middle. I shopped around a lot and luckily settled on this 3 inch foam topper. My bed is cooler and supportive. It’s been about a month so it’s good.</p><p>4. RECLAIM HER NAME. Republishing books by women that were originally published under a man’s name in order to get them published! I am currently reading “Middlemarch” by George Eliot but really by Mary Ann Evans. It’s not a book I would have chosen but is listed as one of the Best British novels. It was written in 1871. I would describe it as proper English prose of the time period and about the Puritan life.</p><p>You can read more of the project at womensprizeforfiction.co.uk.</p><p><br /></p><p>5. My new Solid as a Rock painting.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEPrND3a0tW5mn_JSxp_dON03aCI6N_qxE9ke4r64ohep7HcslHd2NptxlU2jpPmq0f_QXALsiKgtCfo9L8Fdj19T5O9pfcV31BxMBn6a1gXZ2_iTFay9cMmzAGpiPE77d_SmmVX7yWjaE/s604/67FFAD26-9A76-4039-B322-CDE8699A3CDD.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="604" data-original-width="434" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEPrND3a0tW5mn_JSxp_dON03aCI6N_qxE9ke4r64ohep7HcslHd2NptxlU2jpPmq0f_QXALsiKgtCfo9L8Fdj19T5O9pfcV31BxMBn6a1gXZ2_iTFay9cMmzAGpiPE77d_SmmVX7yWjaE/s0/67FFAD26-9A76-4039-B322-CDE8699A3CDD.jpeg" /></a></div><p>Thanks to CEECEE CREATIONS for the tutorial. I had a lot of fun playing with this. </p><p>Whimsical but solid, dude.</p><p><br /></p><p>And so we come to the end of this week’s fun. I hope you’ll join us at LeeAnna’s site at lapaylor.blogspot.com for more “likes”.</p><p>Stay safe.</p><p>Mary</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Mary in Peoria Handmadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08871811216546092480noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4188661763019487924.post-3628193556691154262020-08-12T21:31:00.000-07:002020-08-12T21:31:24.186-07:00Things I Like Thursdays Aug 13<p> Greetings!</p><p>Are you as tired of summer ( insert Pandemic, heat, political commercials, etc) as I am?.....ok, we’ll focus on likable stuff. Here’ s my list of likes for this week:</p><p>1. Making my own sweet relish. Ok, maybe some of you have done this before but I am over the moon on this. I had no idea yellow #5 food dye was in the relish I had been buying for many years. I’m allergic to yellow #5-it’s actually a poison and banned in Europe. But not here! I tried to buy any brand without it included but they all had it. Surprise! What’s a girl to do? Make my own:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeLF1YeKmApsol3B4alGp1ouN2ahioHOFFdW91SmjGBotrc4wXWcbyW4QMwAeWwuuFpd8F3LXxZCQE-BrbmrLIDR29Aug1-wrWzcoDIHBWeEgkbMWUry4Wr0sEanlv2TBci1LpRhKLlFW8/s640/FEDC3344-84DC-4DD5-A9E9-B8BA732E6D31.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeLF1YeKmApsol3B4alGp1ouN2ahioHOFFdW91SmjGBotrc4wXWcbyW4QMwAeWwuuFpd8F3LXxZCQE-BrbmrLIDR29Aug1-wrWzcoDIHBWeEgkbMWUry4Wr0sEanlv2TBci1LpRhKLlFW8/s0/FEDC3344-84DC-4DD5-A9E9-B8BA732E6D31.jpeg" /></a></div><p>I was only able to buy Persian cucumbers (huh?). They are about 5 inches long and almost seedless. Anyway, I peeled and chopped them , salted and drained them for 3 hours. Then I squeezed them in a towel to remove excess moisture. That was the key. I cooked them with sugar and celery seed and a touch of spices.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb2WuEwKelQ44IzlmwECyEHjphnkEeJF7ytN3XT9mOuAW4fIWCzK6u1kDjfVtIsOxLiScKJ8QTXfVWOmxxrj3BgjbhDMvvr34duIb-HVUMVqNDfSXhS8buUDSkNQVGsQhQJchl7fFhKtvG/s640/7C29F535-8FDE-47AF-AF92-15B439956966.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb2WuEwKelQ44IzlmwECyEHjphnkEeJF7ytN3XT9mOuAW4fIWCzK6u1kDjfVtIsOxLiScKJ8QTXfVWOmxxrj3BgjbhDMvvr34duIb-HVUMVqNDfSXhS8buUDSkNQVGsQhQJchl7fFhKtvG/s0/7C29F535-8FDE-47AF-AF92-15B439956966.jpeg" /></a></div><p>Voila! Maybe got 1/2 cup of really good all natural relish.</p><p><br /></p><p>2. Apple+ on my IPad. I should have checked both of my TVs to see if they are compatible before purchasing it. They are not. Oh well. I’m not going to purchase stuff to make them compatible as I’ll only use it occasionally. I’m enjoying “The Morning Show” on Apple+. It’s a dark show about a network morning news show and all the goings -on behind the scenes. It stars Jennifer Aniston and Steve Carrell. Sure gets my mind off of real stuff happening around us.kinda like a soap opera but more serious covering current events.</p><p>3. “Modern Love” on Amazon Prime. It’s a different “love” story each episode that was sent into the New York Times column. There are all kinds of complicated love stories. It’s interesting and mostly upbeat.</p><p>4. We are good here in our little prison. LOL.</div><div>Here is a list of my “likes” for this week:</div><div><br /></div><div>1. My new mop-as I always say-it’s the little things. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHOV5cYU1AggfiRjo3h7A5KKWgyK0zTOjg5wxW8tdHbcOIfaIQm2OtTAq0VIkg8htl_gOCoZVWz4q1a6q_LcaV7Cl3rFLBrfYtKS9RZajtYCbTfZdvDdxOv16XAYsd2odX-NwTLOR8nJyG/s640/DBBA4648-9406-4498-90C0-5199C2A3CD68.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHOV5cYU1AggfiRjo3h7A5KKWgyK0zTOjg5wxW8tdHbcOIfaIQm2OtTAq0VIkg8htl_gOCoZVWz4q1a6q_LcaV7Cl3rFLBrfYtKS9RZajtYCbTfZdvDdxOv16XAYsd2odX-NwTLOR8nJyG/s0/DBBA4648-9406-4498-90C0-5199C2A3CD68.jpeg" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>Isn’t it cute?- still In it’s package. Hmm-maybe tomorrow. I’ve gone through several types of mops and none seem to do the job that I expect. ( Yeah, maybe I should lower my expectations.). Anyway, I’m ready to try something new again. I like the idea you can turn it over after the first side gets dirty and it can be thrown in the washing machine when I’m done.</div><div><br /></div><div>2. Flattening my warped painting. Here’s the before photo of the painting:</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHjltPFztVPoCh6NNp-huffpYHokUBBfNsWwl3Z3MJPdcfx5LykUbDlocNg_vCOk90Wkdv72_hlWKzP4GVtTRHHxBoSRjaG_vFI0HguQmZbfC5dsOvaI298tmgisyvBSAc2dUhCOu21st8/s476/45BE9FCA-45EC-491C-BBDD-85A7A6DFF4B6.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="226" data-original-width="476" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHjltPFztVPoCh6NNp-huffpYHokUBBfNsWwl3Z3MJPdcfx5LykUbDlocNg_vCOk90Wkdv72_hlWKzP4GVtTRHHxBoSRjaG_vFI0HguQmZbfC5dsOvaI298tmgisyvBSAc2dUhCOu21st8/s0/45BE9FCA-45EC-491C-BBDD-85A7A6DFF4B6.jpeg" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>Sometimes, if too much water is applied to the paper, it can warp. I do tape my paper down while I’m painting but it still happened. Just a cloth on top while on the ironing board. Granted, I used a warm iron and soft touch several times. I’m so pleased. The new Blogger is not my friend but I refuse to give up. </div><div><br /></div><div>Here’s a list of my likes for this week. Thanks to Lee Anna for keeping us focused on positive things in theses difficult times! </div><div><br /></div><div>1. Sprouts Market store delivery. I finally took the plunge and use Instacart delivery service to have someone pick out my groceries and deliver them. It’s not free but under my circumstances it’s worth it. So, I online ordered a list of specialty (gluten free, etc) items and fresh produce within a larger amount of options. It all worked well twice now. One thing I’ve noticed with online grocery/ household buying is the delivery drivers are mostly women. Oh, and I do wipe down everything that enters the house with disinfectant wipes. I use peroxide/ water mix for produce.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>2. Thomas making Christmas cards in July. He loves it!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlZWLZVt05qGWjRbR7KK9TJsdur88p7Qt2082SH_dQSY4_DbbG0zNN898hnPZecQb14teRMG84zRNbWjVdboPsontLvpfUnfHLHd8gDiTf7OnFhxqm0qMTQHfn4ZA0r8SfRWZLXq6ZTn_h/s640/0970EDBC-8A8E-4BEC-8655-B9D7FCBD4127.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="500" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlZWLZVt05qGWjRbR7KK9TJsdur88p7Qt2082SH_dQSY4_DbbG0zNN898hnPZecQb14teRMG84zRNbWjVdboPsontLvpfUnfHLHd8gDiTf7OnFhxqm0qMTQHfn4ZA0r8SfRWZLXq6ZTn_h/w375-h500/0970EDBC-8A8E-4BEC-8655-B9D7FCBD4127.jpeg" width="375" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><span style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div> I’m so pleased my daughter purchased Christmas craft kits many months ago for stuff to do during lockdown. I have been feeling guilty for having so much fabric around me not being used. I purchased 90% of it before I retired. I haven’t had a sewing mojo for almost a year. There were a few items made for Christmas or family last year but when the Corona virus hit, sewing came to a halt. I have no idea why. I did pick up painting instead. Certainly not to the extreme my quilting was. </span></div><div><span style="text-align: center;"> We have an 8 year old (going on 40) sweet girl in our family who needed a hobby. So, I gave her my two year old , small/ lightweight Janome, sewing supplies and tools, as well as appropriate fabric as a gift. As I suspected, she is over the moon learning to sew. I cannot go to see or teach her. But, on day one she was reading the manual and trying things out! In addition, she has a grandma who stays at her house a few days a week who will now teach her to sew. Happiness all around. I am so thrilled for us all. </span></div><div><span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="text-align: center;">I gave 2 large bags of fabric (plus scraps) to Goodwill along with many patterns I never even used. I gave a large bag of precuts to a quilter friend of my brother. She's a happy camper to have all those pretties.</span></div><div><span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="text-align: center;">I still have 3 sewing machines, a small amount of fabric and now my painting supplies. I no longer feel guilty about what I have. I have maybe 4 quilting projects that could be finished but no other sewing in the future. Oh, and a much nicer bedroom.</span></div><div><span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="text-align: center;">I’m exhausted from all this cleaning and moving stuff around. Hopefully, I can paint tomorrow.</span></div><div><span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="text-align: center;">In the meantime, I put up some Christmas lights that we are enjoying!</span></div><div><span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje4Da8YssOLPRlkcNJE3Kq0l78z6jvNQck93KEizP4GAU5TtLQVfcXqfbWq12WCBLTy1VwxFi3nT2WL9aiSzeXc4ifuuoM44V3yLIcNWc7wpRyoCuyQTNmb21GSjft45Kd24OWhLNmLVbd/s1956/25A1E823-4656-44BD-A0F9-E415C5FCB8F0.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1956" data-original-width="1560" height="625" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje4Da8YssOLPRlkcNJE3Kq0l78z6jvNQck93KEizP4GAU5TtLQVfcXqfbWq12WCBLTy1VwxFi3nT2WL9aiSzeXc4ifuuoM44V3yLIcNWc7wpRyoCuyQTNmb21GSjft45Kd24OWhLNmLVbd/w499-h625/25A1E823-4656-44BD-A0F9-E415C5FCB8F0.jpeg" width="499" /></a></div><span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="text-align: center;">Stay safe and let me know how you’re doin with the new BLOGGER 😂😂😂😂.</span></div><div><span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="text-align: center;">Mary</span></div><div><span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="text-align: center;">P.S. in case you’re wondering how lovely it’s been outside:</span></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeYQ9hutxFNaounPeGfp7e3ClR0CG1RevR3VXzHs8bjXqV-RxqfOpXw0Y8scdcawr5UOlFhLDsHZilLZ9ylreSA03i7nS_Uhyphenhyphen3PpEAmroEGmyQtg1w6RdscDQ3T7OX73yGm5qWx6Jjd8pS/s268/AF700300-5DF3-4539-9253-88D25F3334BB.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="268" data-original-width="236" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeYQ9hutxFNaounPeGfp7e3ClR0CG1RevR3VXzHs8bjXqV-RxqfOpXw0Y8scdcawr5UOlFhLDsHZilLZ9ylreSA03i7nS_Uhyphenhyphen3PpEAmroEGmyQtg1w6RdscDQ3T7OX73yGm5qWx6Jjd8pS/s0/AF700300-5DF3-4539-9253-88D25F3334BB.jpeg" /></a></div><span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="text-align: center;">14 days of lo</span><span style="text-align: center;">ws above 90 Degrees and 25 days of over 110 degrees. Basically, one side of the bridge is Phoenix and the other end is Tempe. </div><div>The train was carrying tons of wood and “some type of fuel“. The derailment and fire has caused major disruption in the area such as the light rail can’t carry passengers back and forth to the area, Tempe is closed, highways are closed, the Sky Harbor airport is only 2 miles away so planes are being diverted not to mention the pollution of the Tempe Town Lake, a major water area for the valley. </div><div><br /></div><div>Miraculously, no one has been hurt but there are several hundred fire fighters in the area including in the air! There must have been a lot of complaints to the Blogger crew!<div>It’s a struggle.</div><div>Mary</div><div><br /></div><div>So after I wrote this last night it wouldn’t post- just saved to a draft. Luckily I tried again this morning posted it and it worked today.</div><div>Very frustrating.</div><div><br /></div>Mary in Peoria Handmadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08871811216546092480noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4188661763019487924.post-81590123575582906752020-07-22T19:45:00.001-07:002020-07-22T19:51:18.096-07:00Things I like Thursdays jul 23Greetings!<div><br /></div><div>Obviously, we are still at home all the time, so I’m either cooking, cleaning or painting. Sometimes I go out to do a pick up at the grocery store or pharmacy. But I can still spend money like the rest of ‘em. I’m keeping AMAZON in business and recently checked out Etsy. Oh dear- what a lot of lovely things they have. </div><div><br /></div><div>But I do have some likes from this week to share with you thanks to Lee Anna’s group and guidance to better things:</div><div><br /></div><div>1. RAIN IN THE FORECAST. We are all getting excited. Hopefully today. Unfortunately, it means lots of dust storms, too. But, my poor air conditioner has been running 24/7so it needs a rest after 20 days or more of 110 degrees.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi37EyOtNmw2JPOLlB45UkEnARuzmERcpTdnYzkuwUwGFtwP0BLK7P-VvmAHcvEVS1vG2E8WaLbezQmWZ7DROVf00s2UE9qS8cxIOz71fclGQuT0hx2Utj6NpzrUCDqKomKCL9LP5pgNmoV/s640/C1861648-08C8-4C19-9CDA-272D7BBD6AB4.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="500" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi37EyOtNmw2JPOLlB45UkEnARuzmERcpTdnYzkuwUwGFtwP0BLK7P-VvmAHcvEVS1vG2E8WaLbezQmWZ7DROVf00s2UE9qS8cxIOz71fclGQuT0hx2Utj6NpzrUCDqKomKCL9LP5pgNmoV/w375-h500/C1861648-08C8-4C19-9CDA-272D7BBD6AB4.jpeg" width="375" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>6:30 AM PROMISING.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>2. Cold faucet water. ( see number one above). In June, July or August, we do not have cold water out of the faucet. At least in most homes in the area. In this home I’m in, the cold water is so hot that it’s almost impossible to take a shower. So, when the monsoon season starts, the ground water cools down. Hence, nice cool showers again, laundry that doesn’t shrink from the hot water, plants don’t need ice cubes on them, etc. As I always say, it’s the little things.</div><div><br /></div><div>3. Spending the day with my daughter. We have such fun together and Saturday she brought Thomas with her At 8:30 am and spent the entire day. That just never happens. I made breakfast and lunch for us all. She brought all the stuff needed for us to do pedicures in the living room, watching Christmas movies while Thomas played on his tablet. While he was taking his nap, we researched supplies online for our Christmas projects and she snuck out and picked them up. We accomplished a lot that day but took our time , ate well and had fun.</div><div><br /></div><div>4. Do you sense a theme here? I’ve spent a few hours shopping for art supplies. After painting a bit, I realize there might be some things I should get to make the process easier or just because. Lol. I’m also trying to figure out how I want to display my paintings. Haha. I just like looking at them. It’s like quilting- my current one is my favorite. I’ve purchased some mats and backings for the paintings so I’ll share them next week if I get them put together. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>7. <div>
Where do I start? 115 degrees again today, Corona virus numbers in our area are way worse and I had a UTI for fun.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
However, the antibiotics worked , I have a great air conditioner, lots of craft supplies and everyone is still healthy. And, I’m eating vanilla ice cream which is my favorite food. </div>
<div>
Guess that’s a win for today.</div>
<div>

My thumbs don’t work or are very painful so I have trouble opening many items. Your hand goes around the bottom grips and you line up the metal clips to open seals on jars, applesauce or pudding cups, Coffee Creamer seals, etc.It has helped me so much. It also works to open sealed bags. Many times I have to cut off the sealed part of the bag and use a clip to close it. The opener is very inexpensive. Like $9.<br />
It’s called Totoone 6 in 1 multi opener on Amazon.<br />

The second one is helping Gramma water her plants. The first photo is him feeling very proud for helping mom shred junk mail in the shredder(very carefully).<br />
He is just now starting to help around the house. Contrary to most teenagers. LOL. We all work to get him to be more independent but it takes time in a wheelchair and one working arm/hand. He has 5 therapists that help him (now online due to the corona virus) with his needs Yes, we are very fortunate.<br />

I had a can of artichoke hearts in thee pantry over a year and 2 large potatoes in the fridge taking up room, so I looked online and sure enough there was a recipe for soup in the crock pot. Very easy. Just chop everything small, added dehydrated onions, 4 c chicken broth, lots of black pepper and 3 bay leaves. Also added some turmeric for kick ( and joint pain). Cooked in slow cooker on low for 8 hours then splurged through the blender. Returned it all to the slow cooker, added a little milk (no cream on hand). And voila! Supper. Really different and good. I made too much so I sent some to the freezer:<br />

BEST. MUSICAL. EVER. This musical is in a category of it’s own. The genius of Lin Manuel Miranda is unbelievable in the writing, the score and his performance. </div><div>After reading a biography of Alexander Hamilton , Mr Miranda wrote a musical in —hip-hop— depicting Hamilton’s life which was interesting and incredible as one of our forefathers. I am not a fan of rap music but evidently I am now a fan of hip- hop because I can understand the words. However, the performances of everyone are outstanding as well Which makes a big difference. </div><div> I can’t wait till this movie comes out on DVD because it is the actual play on Broadway and I want to watch it again.</div><div><br /></div><div>7.My doctors and insurance availability for telemedicine- just had my lung tests in person yesterday and doctor visit later in the day electronically, so all is good. </div><div><br /></div><div>As you can see, I’ve been keeping busy so as not to worry about our state which is the worst state in the country for dealing with Covid19. We have an idiot for a governor. </div><div>Most parents (78%) who were surveyed here will not allow their kids to return to school in person in the fall because of what is happening here. It just isn’t safe and no one will spend the money or risk the wrath of Trump to make it safe. It’s so sad because we were already the worst state for children’s education, and now this. Kids in <u>our </u>families are staying home. Unfortunately, this means a serious decrease in family income but the kid‘s safety ( and we grandparents) are more important. We opened our state too early and now are paying for it in many ways. </div><div><br /></div><div> Sorry, I went off on a tangent, but this is affecting all of us.</div><div><br /></div><div>Anyway, keeping busy is tantamount to surviving without losing our cool, so I’ll keep painting and maybe even sew again this coming week.</div><div><br /></div><div>I hope all of you are safe and sound. Please take care and thank you so much for stopping by. I love your comments..</div><div>Mary</div><div><br /></div><div>I used the new Blogger for the entire blog and it took twice as long to finish but it worked, I think.</div><div><br /></div>Mary in Peoria Handmadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08871811216546092480noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4188661763019487924.post-81650310191151605652020-07-01T21:28:00.001-07:002020-07-01T21:28:04.331-07:00I like Thursdays July 2Greetings!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The insert image icon still doesn’t work on new Blogger nor can I save a post - so I’m using the old Blogger. Very frustrating and I don’t know at this point how I’ll blog in the future once they change over.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Arizona is still one of the worst states with COVID-19. We had 4800+ new cases yesterday in addition to the 30,000 in 2 weeks. The governor revised the rules again to close gyms, bars and tubing down the river. He refuses to shut us down or mandate masks. Luckily, the mayors have mandated masks and cancelled all Independence Day events. The hospitals are full in ICU or over 90%. This is crazy in a metro area of over 4 million. We’re also number 1state in fires for the U.S. Over half of the state acreage has burned in the last few months.</div>
<div>
Other than that, things are fine.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
So, I’ve been painting and being creative! And, finally went swimming at my son’s home. My daughter and I call it The Resort. Lol. Here’s a list of my likes for this week:<br />
<br />
<br />
1. Swimming and lounging at my son’s home.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQy40lHt8dCzNF9a5fw9PLBoKA3VahOL93xSEIYMduN9Rk2Wc-Iv5cdf8TUcJaXl5LSR6YWISegQ-I9RDooKtev-nebZxeb8-RBGtFaeaJRsVeuMqPAIuw8z_jTd9UPiQhlFd8_VKZCRZN/s1600/D941F91F-8FC2-441E-A601-9B3A14418612.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="452" data-original-width="640" height="452" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQy40lHt8dCzNF9a5fw9PLBoKA3VahOL93xSEIYMduN9Rk2Wc-Iv5cdf8TUcJaXl5LSR6YWISegQ-I9RDooKtev-nebZxeb8-RBGtFaeaJRsVeuMqPAIuw8z_jTd9UPiQhlFd8_VKZCRZN/s640/D941F91F-8FC2-441E-A601-9B3A14418612.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div>

<br /></div>
<div>
Thomas and mom on the left and my DIL on the right. I was the photographer. The hot tub is in the background. We were distancing and wore masks when inside. The only person not at home all the time during this virus is my daughter who is being as careful as possible. Thomas sat on a huge step at the shallow end and played catch with my son at the other end of the pool. Here he is anticipating getting wet, but he loved the day.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikiRmtjUJTQ2sEHdncfetuFGK5IuQghA4DODTdWEGSz_k1v2awle8xZaJASBGDKpSppifO0cRp6UjNyjYVTeHP_sWyth_iLt6r_AJ6xnY5qTV7YXbBk2W0WNmaz5Z1yiWuYHHD8nMbKL_z/s1600/F8C15F06-4E43-412A-8AD7-0F61BEFBF65A.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="620" data-original-width="640" height="620" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikiRmtjUJTQ2sEHdncfetuFGK5IuQghA4DODTdWEGSz_k1v2awle8xZaJASBGDKpSppifO0cRp6UjNyjYVTeHP_sWyth_iLt6r_AJ6xnY5qTV7YXbBk2W0WNmaz5Z1yiWuYHHD8nMbKL_z/s640/F8C15F06-4E43-412A-8AD7-0F61BEFBF65A.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div>
Here’s my son at the other end of the pool. That’s a waterfall in the background that lights up at night. Very cool.<br />
<br />
Plus, my son and daughter in law made homemade pizza from scratch cooked on the “Green Egg “.<br />
Best pizza ever.<br />
The best part of that day was watching my son playing with his nephew which hasn’t happened before. There’s always been too many people around or my son didn’t know Thomas’ limits due to his Cerebral Palsy. They really enjoyed each other.<br />
<br />
<br />
2. My New “BLUE” painting<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc5Ypce-3Te_Mkuf37C0XF376P5bjhqv7f_zJ2nzhWIIDMf5LgUKLlKvsPrh3GlfSa9XgF-Vn_Sherjb0MT35NMS41tewdfWozKkvQfwOBZMA2FzFDMTiZOyhp_CWoknxVI_ajOYfQ4IuO/s1600/D7EB4832-35AF-47D3-A213-62E265A71894.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc5Ypce-3Te_Mkuf37C0XF376P5bjhqv7f_zJ2nzhWIIDMf5LgUKLlKvsPrh3GlfSa9XgF-Vn_Sherjb0MT35NMS41tewdfWozKkvQfwOBZMA2FzFDMTiZOyhp_CWoknxVI_ajOYfQ4IuO/s640/D7EB4832-35AF-47D3-A213-62E265A71894.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div>
I made this while watching the news. Just sayin. It’s very bizarre but fun. Don’t worry, I’m still taking my meds.<br />
<br />
3. A decrease in my car insurance monthly cost. So, I don’t drive a hundred miles a week and the insurance company cut my rate due to the COVID 19. Good.<br />
<br />
4. My new LARGE mesh strainer. Somehow, my large (8 inch diameter)mesh strainer disappeared and I needed it for making cold brew coffee. ( yes, I went back to half and half coffee-one cup in the morning.). So, I ordered a new strainer from Amazon and obviously didn’t pay attention to the dimensions.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUNR4LIseVgWQWKEyusub7GyF5h4LCfAleCDqKqJdg_KcvVbhtStEJq1kwvq65MgyvGbCSHhbYaCys1DDZdFCyo97NZyMM4VqlSMmyCR4kU-i4OF11ce-583GFEWVewxdYahMbnr67fhG2/s1600/8EC14012-C9BD-4E5C-A4C3-0A3C7AF3C8C7.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUNR4LIseVgWQWKEyusub7GyF5h4LCfAleCDqKqJdg_KcvVbhtStEJq1kwvq65MgyvGbCSHhbYaCys1DDZdFCyo97NZyMM4VqlSMmyCR4kU-i4OF11ce-583GFEWVewxdYahMbnr67fhG2/s320/8EC14012-C9BD-4E5C-A4C3-0A3C7AF3C8C7.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div>
The mesh is 10 inch diameter but the whole thing is16 inches long! commercial grade. I told my daughter she’ll inherit it and will never need another one! Haha<br />
<br />
5. Making a Jul 4th card for Thomas. He still loves getting real mail.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

3. House Hunter’s -Comedians on theCouch- on HGTV. The comedians say what we’ve been thinking all these years while buyers go thru the homes. We think they are funny shows.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
4. My current read</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
I really enjoy this author’s books. This one is kinda crazy with a British sense of humor. A view into a young woman’s life with roommates living in London in the 90’s. </div>
<div>
<br />
At this point in the blog, I had to switch to the old blogger. Here’s what I experienced : I wrote the above portion with copied photos from my albums, on one day and saved it. The next day, the photos were replaced with an empty square that said “image”. I tried all I could to fix it (and wasted a lot of time). I had to revert to the old Blogger in order to insert my photos again just using the box in the toolbar above and going to my photos.<br />
<br />
Does anyone know how to insert photos on the new Blogger? I clicked on the box with a mountain in it on the tool bar but nothing happened. This is frustrating.<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
5. Starting a quilt. I wanted to use up stash-it’s really been bothering me that there’s so much fabric here not being used. So, I went to the first container and pulled out an 11 fat quarters bundle from 2014 via Cotton and Steele. It’s Tokyo Train Ride by Sarah Watts. It was not what I expected when it arrived and so it just sat all these years. It kinda ruined me for buying bundles especially now on a limited budget. I cut (42) 8 inch squares and stitched them together .<br />

As you can see some of the prints are crooked. Plus , I don’t understand why it has cats and dogs prints. The quality of the fabric was outstanding but not the designs. I will make it a summer quilt with no filler. It’s about 48 x 58. So I did use up some stash and so far about 5 hours of my time. It will be a charity quilt.<br />

WARNING: I am trying to use the new Blogger. <br />
<br />
Here’s my list of likes for this week:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
1. Making a Father’s Day card with Thomas last weekend. Very fun. I forgot to take photos. Thomas stuck a Monster Jam Zombie sticker on the front of the card. On the inside, he wrote Happy Farter’s Day.</div>
<div>
Typical teenager. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
2. New plant from my daughter</div>

<div>
VINCAS! So pretty. It’s one of the few flowering plants that make it thru 110 degrees. Don’t you love the planter?<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
3. A clean Mammogram result. My mom had breast cancer resulting in a mastectomy so I have been diligent on getting a mammo for 30 years.</div>
<div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
HERE IS WHERE I SWITCHED BACK TO REGULAR BLOGGER BECAUSE I COULDN’T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SAVE A POST OR INSERT A PHOTO. UGH<br />
Also- the help questions weren’t for the new Blogger. Really?<br />
<br />
<br /></div>

4. My current read</div>

I like to read “fluff”- Not too serious or brain draining before I go to bed. This book looks like that kind but I found it interesting. Granted, I got the book for the cupcake. A young woman escapes from the city life in England to the country/seaside in England only to find her true, strong personality. The descriptive countryside by the sea is so inviting.<br />
<br />
That’s about all my likes for this week except the LGBTQ Supreme Court ruling for my gay friends.<br />
<br />
Hope ya’ll are doing well.<br />
<br />
Take care<br />

<br />
I’m trying to be positive by not watching the news. Don’t worry, I’m sure it’s only temporary but my brain and heart need a break. So, here’s what’s making me happy:<br />
<br />
1. Chocolate cake with Oreo cookie icing. We celebrated Thomas’ 16th birthday last weekend. Just the 4 of Us- 6 feet apart in their living room. It was sweet. He and his parents have been watching “The Last Dance”. It’s a story with videos About Michael Jordan and his journey. Since then, Thomas is obsessed with Michael Jordan. But, I digress. The feature was this cake:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK50yYe45lV0MlssKFH6qIXIPVffRJgxmygAOPtpvByx_hLpApuI3YYxsWGeqO7xmZzW0m3XpVEN_AIOhDuu8E5NMx_L-eU6eaDk84AT_MrtQDNEGN4B_ukw4MzTlYqr2YML7yCph4vNY5/s1600/1B7BCA58-7953-4A0F-AAA1-DC8842E4B1BA.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK50yYe45lV0MlssKFH6qIXIPVffRJgxmygAOPtpvByx_hLpApuI3YYxsWGeqO7xmZzW0m3XpVEN_AIOhDuu8E5NMx_L-eU6eaDk84AT_MrtQDNEGN4B_ukw4MzTlYqr2YML7yCph4vNY5/s640/1B7BCA58-7953-4A0F-AAA1-DC8842E4B1BA.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
My daughter made it. It’s a boxed Cake mix but the icing was made with cream cheese and crushed Oreos. Sinful.<br />
<br />
2. Birthday greetings from the great grand girls Braylee and Kynslee.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRxWqr5GauqNEX6X8uryhinolkYEDj61cSFj8gmMRfns3VPcwtvMZVw4AK4qQimJVJatciTcbCApeso7z9UreBZcdB1xvDQc91xd4NKz_5S4_0zh4hfVs7yuvWkZHRGa96lAUy1jgikaeL/s1600/734F5C30-4CEE-4F45-8FB1-087BE404F3EF.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1334" data-original-width="750" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRxWqr5GauqNEX6X8uryhinolkYEDj61cSFj8gmMRfns3VPcwtvMZVw4AK4qQimJVJatciTcbCApeso7z9UreBZcdB1xvDQc91xd4NKz_5S4_0zh4hfVs7yuvWkZHRGa96lAUy1jgikaeL/s400/734F5C30-4CEE-4F45-8FB1-087BE404F3EF.jpeg" width="223" /></a></div>
Too freakin cute.<br />
<br />
3. A Dresden on my dresser.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCiFhwuvQOANAQwa75AbTGUdnWHE2RvfXpvKM5vEeabOQEEp_RjJvvW5HjLEJLgF82nREjxtpuCrXNDTjQdxf8frOFb5NRHbRtqFeeb1vTWH6-faFqwDr-_5fvQH2mUk7ZEfx9x7mugC9Q/s1600/3AB9C205-0237-4312-9AE5-96AC44111758.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCiFhwuvQOANAQwa75AbTGUdnWHE2RvfXpvKM5vEeabOQEEp_RjJvvW5HjLEJLgF82nREjxtpuCrXNDTjQdxf8frOFb5NRHbRtqFeeb1vTWH6-faFqwDr-_5fvQH2mUk7ZEfx9x7mugC9Q/s320/3AB9C205-0237-4312-9AE5-96AC44111758.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
I’ve had this dresser for 20 years and never noticed the Dresdens in the corners! Pretty cool.<br />
<br />
4. New pillowcases. So, I needed some extra pillowcases and didn’t want to go out to buy any. Of course, I have ample fabric to make some:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOJsS4s0wAuB89ArIzOqw8IuM_rQbGm_kFFpINCE3Q0K8iLeiUOU_jZ5xJysdoMiOSbj3fC-XT6_c-ySydNOjWpjGXn02H-Ksr3RwPMeOC7UUJihAxLSlPARFjMNddn4TuyPOCR45OF9eT/s1600/8566A46C-045F-4A28-BDEC-B60927065D1E.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="908" data-original-width="1600" height="362" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOJsS4s0wAuB89ArIzOqw8IuM_rQbGm_kFFpINCE3Q0K8iLeiUOU_jZ5xJysdoMiOSbj3fC-XT6_c-ySydNOjWpjGXn02H-Ksr3RwPMeOC7UUJihAxLSlPARFjMNddn4TuyPOCR45OF9eT/s640/8566A46C-045F-4A28-BDEC-B60927065D1E.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div>
Here’s a pink one with Valentines border<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm9nSC9yfDrkGid8j7lIRXectjaqpJa9FdI8s-rJBDlm9RpyDWE1AKK5MWTQVMbLsLihT9UA5_2g0uBZIDBTgQzvXFDdrGTZt4J0d6GCaTmcZVw0_1H_p9gP3mTI-1JcusB24HKWE2SV2h/s1600/A3ACCD12-81D7-41C0-A036-7060D86C136C.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="498" data-original-width="471" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm9nSC9yfDrkGid8j7lIRXectjaqpJa9FdI8s-rJBDlm9RpyDWE1AKK5MWTQVMbLsLihT9UA5_2g0uBZIDBTgQzvXFDdrGTZt4J0d6GCaTmcZVw0_1H_p9gP3mTI-1JcusB24HKWE2SV2h/s640/A3ACCD12-81D7-41C0-A036-7060D86C136C.jpeg" width="604" /></a></div>
And a tan flowery one with a tan border. <br />
It was great to use up stash. Whoever came up with the tutorial at MSQC should be given an award. Their instructions for a pillowcase are so easy and quick. It took me longer to pick out fabric. LOL.<br />
<br />
